What happens on a Sunday

Services last about an hour and a half. You’re free to join in as much or as little as you like.

  1. Welcome and worship

You’ll be greeted as you arrive. We begin by singing contemporary worship songs together.

  2. Bible teaching

A talk from the Bible, exploring what it means to follow Jesus in everyday life.

  3. Time to connect

Coffee is served after the morning service, and during the evening service, which has a more informal feel.

Questions people ask

The things people wonder before a first visit, answered plainly. If yours isn’t here, email us.

Which service should I come to?

Whichever suits your Sunday. It’s one church meeting in two places. The morning service at The Well in Thatcham (10:30am) is a little larger, with coffee afterwards; the evening service at Wash Common Community Centre in Newbury (6:00pm) is a little more informal, with coffee during. Same welcome at both.

Do I need to let you know I’m coming?

No. Just turn up. If you’d like someone to look out for you at the door, email info@glendale-church.com beforehand and we’ll make sure of it.

What happens when I arrive?

Someone will say hello and point you to the room. There’s no form to fill in and no sign-in. Sit anywhere you like. We start with a few worship songs, there’s a talk from the Bible that connects with everyday life, and we pray for our world, our community and one another. Then coffee.

How long does it last?

About an hour and a half: the morning service 10:30am to 12:00pm, the evening 6:00pm to 7:30pm. You’re free to slip out earlier if you need to.

What should I wear?

Whatever you’re comfortable in. Most people are in everyday clothes; nobody dresses up.

Will I be asked to do anything?

No. You won’t be asked to stand up, speak, or be introduced, and you won’t be asked for money; giving is something the church family does, not visitors. Join in as much or as little as you like.

Can I bring children?

Yes, very much. Children are welcome in the service with you, and on Sunday mornings at The Well there are groups for children during part of the service. Ask at the door and someone will show you. On Friday mornings The Well also hosts Replenish, for parents and carers with little ones.

I’m not sure what I believe. Is that OK?

Completely. Plenty of people come to Glendale while they’re still working out what they think about God. You’re welcome to come, listen and ask questions; nobody will push you. If you want a space to explore the big questions properly, ask us about our Alpha course.

How do I get there, and is there parking?

The Well is on Green Lane, Thatcham (RG19 3RG); Wash Common Community Centre is on Glendale Avenue, Newbury (RG14 6TL). Both have parking on site or close by. The directions links above open in Google Maps. If you need a space near the door or step-free access, email us and we’ll arrange it.

Can I get a feel for it before I come?
I’m nervous about coming on my own.

That’s completely normal, and you won’t be the only one who came alone the first time. Email us before you come and someone will meet you at the door and sit with you if you’d like. No pressure, no fuss.

I have a question that isn’t here.

Email info@glendale-church.com and a real person will reply.

Still have a question?

Email us and someone from the church will get back to you.
